Lithium Americas (NYSE: LAC) is a lithium mining company that is currently focusing on bringing two world-class lithium projects to production.
It is 30% towards the completion of its Cauchari-Olaroz project in Argentina, with production targeted for 2021. The project will produce 40,000 tones of battery-grade lithium per year, for a period of up to 40 years. Lithium Americas owns 49% of the venture.
In the United States, the company is preparing to conduct a feasibility study on the nation’s largest known lithium resource, which will begin mid-year. The Thacker Pass lithium project is 100% owned by Lithium Americas and is expected to produce 20,000 tones of lithium per year.
An investment in this company is a bet for the future. Lithium Americas has access to vast lithium deposits, and when they enter production, its financials will improve. It currently runs at a fiscal loss, but it’s worth noting that its projects are fully funded through to production.
The confidence behind this stock is clear to see. Momentum on the charts is impressive, especially when considering that it trades at the bargain end of the market. Growth could go even higher. The current analyst consensus target is $6.67.
The demand for battery technology increases each year. Lithium Americas is in an excellent position to meet that demand, and investors will benefit as the company’s bottom line grows.
