ArotechDefense and security company Arotech Corp. (NASDAQ: ARTX) has flown under the radar of most alternative investors. Under its Power Systems division, the company develops advanced lithium and zinc-air batteries used by the military and private security sector. It’s not the most direct lithium stock, but its low price still makes it attractive in today’s market.

Arotech’s revenue declined -2.15% in 2018, due to tightening global economic conditions.

The products that Arotech offers are compelling. The company creates primary lithium batteries, including fully integrated self-charging solutions that can be deployed in the field. This technology is competitive in the Middle East, Europe, and Asia with private defense firms. It could also be reapplied to commercial markets as the demand for lithium technology increases. There are few companies that make highly dependable lithium cells like Arotech, which gives it a unique position.

There’s also a potential buyout at play here. Arotech is in talks to be acquired by Greenbriar Equity Group, in a deal that would be worth $80.8 million. If the deal is successful, shares will be purchased back at $3 each, as early as Q1 2020. At today’s price, this equates to an upside of 1.68%.

Whether looking at this stock for its lithium potential or the proposed buyout, it’s one of the more promising options on the alternative stock investment market today. The only caveat is that investors will need to act fast, as the value in this stock will decline as it gets closer to the proposed $3 buyout price.
