SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): ERI- the largest fully integrated IT and electronics asset disposition (ITAD) provider in the U.S. announced launch of its new internal system, aimed at delivering enhanced operational efficiency. The system, named SOAR, leverages the potentials of artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies.

The system makes use of ERI’s proprietary Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology to highlight text on a picture. This makes the user’s selection process during the receiving process. The second phase of the program eliminates the need for user decision-making, by providing automated selections of the appropriate text from OCR scans of images employing machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques.

The new system minimises the user’s interaction with the data. The user just needs to take a photo of the device, thus simplifying the intake process procedure. The rest of the process is driven by Optech- the ERI’s proprietary cloud-based software, which prints a coded tags to be sticked to the device.

John Shegerian, Chairman and CEO, ERI said that it expects to boost efficiency gains by nearly 50% and deliver further efficiency of captured data. The company takes the process to a whole new level of excellence, he added.
