SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), Odisha an integrated steel plant in the public sector has recognised around 4,000 items for exclusive procurement through Odisha-based MSME industries.

To encourage business with the MSME sector, it also follows a norm of 25 per cent procurement policy of other items from MSME industries, reported The New Indian Express.

On an annual basis, the plant is expected to attain Rs 500 crore worth of service contractor orders.

A substantial portion of the orders remain within the local economy through city-based service contractors.

In the first three quarters of 2022-23 till December, 2022, the plant’s Contract Cell Works (CCW) department has set all time high record for placing service contract orders to the tune of Rs 454.82 crore.

By the end of 2022-23, it may cross the value of orders for service contracts which are majorly done by the local service contractors to empower the local economy.
