Spotlight Jack Henry: Empowering Financial Freedom

Headquartered in Monett, Missouri, Jack Henry makes an extensive array of financial technologies and services that connect banks to the people and businesses they serve. With a mission to help empower financial freedom, Jack Henry serves the two-thirds of the American population that is not considered financially healthy.

The firm was founded in 1976 by Jack Henry and Jerry Hall, upon the idea that technology could help modernize community and regional banks to better serve their customers. The pair rented space in an engine repair shop and began selling banking software.

Today’s JHA embodies the same spirit of innovation, consistently committing at least 14 percent of annual revenue to R&D. To that end, this year, the firm introduced a next-generation, cloud-based, open-banking platform. The new platform is designed to improve JHA’s already industry-leading access to third-party fintechs, a move aimed at supporting the financial service industry through the pandemic-driven shift toward digital banking and helping community and regional banks compete. Additional key projects tied to the initiative include Banking-as-a-Service, financial crimes technology, cybersecurity, and JHA PayCenter, a new payments hub that connects and simplifies the average 20-30 digital financial accounts consumers and businesses use to manage their finances.
