SDI Steel Operations Posted Historically Strong Quarter


The Tata group of companies has invested more than INR 75,000 crore in the state over the past five years.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): One of the world’s leading steelmaker, India-based Tata Steel announced that it is committed to make further investments to boost steelmaking capacity in the Indian state of Odisha, which hosts nearly one-fourth of the country’s total steelmaking capacity.

Announcing the decision, T V Narendran, Managing Director and CEO, Tata Steel noted that the company will continue to make investments to support the growth of the state. The Tata group of companies has invested more than INR 75,000 crore in the state over the past five years, he noted. The remarks were made during the recently held ‘Make in Odisha Conclave 2022’ in the capital city of Bhubaneswar.

Apart from building its flagship steelmaking facility in Kalinganagar, the company has also acquired several key steelmaking assets, including the Neelachal Ispat Nigam Limited (NINL) plant.

Tata Steel targets to double its steel capacity in Odisha from current levels of 9 million tonnes per annum, over the next few years, by implementing expansion projects at all of its Odisha locations.
