Miles Preps Ground Transport Mgmt. App for '22 Release

American Airlines AAdvantage members who also have a
Transportation Security Administration’s PreCheck membership can now use their
American Airlines Mobile ID at select TSA PreCheck checkpoints at Dallas Fort
Worth International Airport to have their identity verified at the airport, the
carrier announced Wednesday.

The service allows eligible customers to use just their
phone and their face, thanks to a collaboration with TSA and American to test
mobile identification. Customers who choose to use this service must first
download the Airside Digital Identity App, take a photo of their face, scan
their driver’s license or passport with the app and enter their AAdvantage
number.

The app then verifies the information and stores it on their
mobile device. As they go through security, customers present a QR code on
their phone and consent to share their American Airlines Mobile ID with TSA.
The process at the airport “typically takes less than five seconds,”
according to American.

The carrier plans to expand the service to additional TSA
PreCheck checkpoints later this year, including at Miami International Airport,
Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and Washington Reagan National
Airport, according to American.
