Hours after Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy imposed sanctions against 198 people, including Russian propagandist and Ukrainian collaborators, Russian state-owned TV news presenter Pavel Zarubin shared a video from the 2019 Normandy Four summit.
What Happened: Zarubin, a staunch supporter of Vladimir Putin‘s war in Ukraine, shared a video of Zelenskyy smiling uncontrollably as the Russian president read out the conditions of the Minsk Accord in Paris in December 2019.
Zarubin shared the video on his Telegram channel while reacting to his inclusion in the Ukrainian sanctions list.
“I have one personal memory about Zelenskyy. I shot these shots myself on a mobile phone in Paris in 2019. The way Zelenskyy behaved when he heard the words about the Minsk agreements and calls for peace,” he said.
In the video, Putin is seen speaking in Russian about the special status of certain regions of Donbas under the Minsk agreements, which sought to end the 2014 Donbas war fought between armed Russian separatist groups and the Ukrainian army.
“I am sure that the long-suffering Ukrainian people will sooner or later introduce real and very tough sanctions against the one who led the country to disaster,” Zarubin added.
Meanwhile, Putin said that the Ukraine operation had gained positive momentum and that he hoped his soldiers would deliver more wins after Russia claimed control of the salt-mining town of Soledar. “The dynamic is positive,” Putin told Rossiya 1 state television.
