Finnair later this year will begin distributing NDC content via both Sabre’s and Amadeus’ global distribution systems, the GDSs announced.

In an extended distribution agreement with Amadeus, Finnair will begin distributing NDC-sourced content through the Amadeus Travel Platform—including full integration to Amadeus Travel APIs and Amadeus’ Cytric corporate booking tool—within the next three months. The carrier already struck an IT agreement with Amadeus in 2019 that made it the driver airline to integrate Amadeus’ Altea NDC application programming with the Amadeus Travel Platform.

With Sabre, Finnair’s NDC content will be available through its GDS “later this year,” enabling access through Sabre’s APIs, its point-of-sale Sabre Red 360 and the GetThere corporate booking tool. Sabre and Finnair earlier this year completed an NDC pilot project with select agencies in Finland and Denmark, according to Sabre.

While Finnair will still be making content available through traditional EDIFACT channels as it expands NDC, the carrier plans to sunset EDIFACT distribution and distribute its content and fares exclusively through NDC by the end of 2025. Last September, Finnair also announced that this month it would begin levying a €12 surcharge per way on EDIFACT bookings at European points of sale.
