Miles Preps Ground Transport Mgmt. App for '22 Release

United Airlines and Air Canada have agreed to expand their relationship with a new joint business agreement, the carriers announced Friday. The two carriers since 1997 have had U.S. antitrust immunity.

The new agreement is subject to compliance with U.S. and Canadian regulatory and antitrust requirements.

Under the new agreement, the carriers would be able to coordinate network and schedules and enhance codeshares on transborder flights, excluding certain U.S. leisure markets and territories. The deal also would allow customers to connect to 38 codeshare destinations in the United States and eight in Canada, with the opportunity to add more codeshare destinations, according to the carriers, and would let United and Air Canada work closer together to advance sustainability objectives.

In addition, members of United’s MileagePlus and Air Canada’s Aeroplan loyalty programs “will have more accrual and redemption options.”
