Aluminum Association Calls for Enforcement of Unfair Trade Orders

Reportedly, the company has fully cooperated with the investigations by authorities and has agreed to plead guilty.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Hydro Extrusion USA The Dalles aluminium processing facility has been charged with violation of the Clean Air Act. The facility has allegedly released hazardous air pollutant, thus causing damage to the health of employees and surrounding community members.

According to Ethan Knight, chief of the economic crimes unit for the U.S. District Attorney’s office in Oregon noted that companies and establishments are required to abide with the rules to ensure strict enforcement of emission standards for hazardous air pollutants. Any company that risks the health and safety of its workers and communities will be vigorously prosecuted, he added.

The court documents suggest that air emissions from the company’s furnaces were open to the interior of the building and did not pass through any pollution control devices before reaching employees or being vented to ambient air. This is clear violation of provisions under the Clean Air Act, by which secondary aluminum production facilities are only permitted to use “clean charge”.

Reportedly, the company has fully cooperated with the investigations by authorities and has agreed to plead guilty.
