Weekly Report: Aluminum Scrap Prices-8th December, 2022

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster):The weekly price trends of scrap aluminium across worldwide markets for the past week (2nd December, 2022 to 8th December, 2022) on the Scrap Monster Price Index are provided below:

The prices witnessed downward trend.

Mixed Aluminum Turnings recorded biggest decline in prices over the week, edging down from $0.53 per Lb to $0.52 per Lb. The prices of E.C. Aluminum Wire and 6063 Extrusions/Fe too recorded modest decline, falling by 1.63% and 1.41% respectively.

The chart provided below depicts the price movement in Mixed Aluminum Turnings during the course of the week:

Meantime, Al/Cu Radiators, Al/Cu Radiators/Fe, Breakage 50% Recovery, Aluminum Transformers, Aluminum Radiators/Fe and Aluminum Radiators recorded no change in prices over the week.

Mixed Aluminum Turnings prices recorded biggest dip over the week, registering decline from $0.53 per Lb to $0.52 per Lb. A notable weekly decline by 1.63% and 1.41% was seen in E.C. Aluminum Wire and 6063 Extrusions/Fe prices.

The scrap aluminium categories that recorded nominal decline in prices included 5052 Scrap, 6063 Extrusions, Litho Sheets, 1100 Scrap, 3003 Scrap, 356 Aluminum Wheels (Clean) and MLC Clips.

The aluminium scrap prices in the region mostly edged lower over the previous week. The top three losers were Mixed Aluminum Turnings, E.C. Aluminum Wire and 6063 Extrusions/Fe. The Mixed Aluminum Turnings prices ended the week at $0.52 per Lb, down from the previous week price of $0.52 per Lb. Also, the week witnessed dip in prices of E.C. Aluminum Wire and 6063 Extrusions/Fe to $1.21 per Lb and $0.69 per Lb respectively.

The aluminium scrap metal prices in the region remained weak, with prices of most categories recording week-on-week decline.

The scrap category to dip the most was Mixed Aluminum Turnings, whose prices recorded fall from $0.53 per Lb to $0.52 per Lb. It was followed by E.C. Aluminum Wire and 6063 Extrusions/Fe, which recorded price declines by 1.63% and 1.39% respectively.

Meantime, prices of 5052 Scrap, 6063 Extrusions, Litho Sheets, 1100 Scrap, 3003 Scrap, 356 Aluminum Wheels (Clean) and MLC Clips ended the week with minor downward changes, over the week.

Aluminum Transformers and Aluminum Radiators prices dropped the most during the previous week. The Aluminum Transformers scrap saw its prices drop from CNY 9,450 per MT to CNY 9,400 per MT each.

Aluminum Radiators recorded a dip in price by CNY 50 per MT, from CNY 9,850 per MT during the start of the week to end the week at $9,800 per MT.  UBC too reported 0.40% decline in prices over the week.

All other scrap, including 6063 Extrusions, Aluminum Ingots, Old Cast, Old Sheet and Zorba 90% NF continued to report decline on Index.

 

The Aluminum utensil scrap prices edged higher from INR 203,000 per ton during the start of the week to INR 207,000 per ton on 8th December, 2022. A similar rise by INR 4,000 per ton was recorded in Aluminum ingots prices over the week.

The prices of all aluminium scrap categories (Aluminum Cuttings, Mixed Aluminum Turnings, Old Cast and UBC) held steady during the week.

 

LME Aluminum Market Update

Meantime, the closing price of LME Aluminum 3-Month contract stood at USD 2,498.00 per tonne as on 8th December, 2022. The LME Aluminum Cash Settlement contract surged higher from $2,350.50 a day before to $2,468.50 per tonne.

The LME Aluminum stocks declined over the previous day to close at 477,425 tonnes on 8th December, 2022, as compared with 483,575 tonnes on 7th December, 2022.
