Weekly Report: Aluminum Scrap Prices-8th December, 2022

The coalition will promote recycling of aluminum, especially aluminum beverage cans among UAE residents.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Leading aluminum conglomerate, Emirates Global Aluminum (EGA) announced launch of new Aluminum Recycling Coalition, which aims to bring about drastic reforms in aluminum recycling in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The launching ceremony was attended by Abdullah Bin Touq Al Marri, UAE Minister of Economy, and Mariam bint Mohammed Saeed Hareb Almheiri, UAE Minister of Climate Change and Environment.

The coalition members include Abu Dhabi Waste Management Company (Tadweer), Aujan Coca-Cola Beverages Company, Coca-Cola Al Ahlia Beverages Company, BEEAH Tandeef, Pepsi-bottler Dubai Refreshment, CANPACK, Crown Bevcan EMEA, DULSCO Group and Veolia, in addition to EGA.

The coalition will promote recycling of aluminum, especially aluminum beverage cans among UAE residents. As a first step, it will support a study by the IAI on aluminum recycling rates and behaviours in the UAE. Furthermore, it will join hands with the government, in formulating necessary regulations and policies and contribute towards strengthening recycling infrastructure in the country.

The Aluminum Recycling Coalition is expected to provide big boost to UAE’s green development strategies.
