SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Portland, Oregon-based Schnitzer Steel Industries, Inc. announced appointment of Gregory R. Friedman as a new independent director to its Board of Directors with immediate effect. He will serve on the Audit Committee and the Compensation and Human Resources Committee of the Board. His appointment lifts the total members on the Board to nine.

Mr. Friedman currently serves as the Chief Financial Officer of Mura Technology, a plastics recycling technology company. Prior to joining Mura, he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Corteva Agriscience. Over his 30-year career, he has also held a variety of senior executive roles.

He holds a BS in Accounting from the University of Southern California and an MBA from the Anderson School of Management at the University of California, Los Angeles.
