SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): India-headquartered steelmaker Tata Steel announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with SMS Group, aimed at curbing carbon emissions at its integrated steel plants all over the country. As per the agreement, the company’s steel plants will employ state-of-the-art technological expertise by SMG Group in reducing carbon emissions.

The signing ceremony was held at Tata Steel on November 23rd, 2022. The MoU was signed by Burkhard Dahmen, CEO and Chairman of the Managing Board, SMS group, and by T. V. Narendran, CEO and Managing Director of Tata Steel.

SMS Group noted that the agreement with Tata Steel is yet another milestone in its efforts to turn metals green. It will leverage upon the over 150-years of experience of SMS Group in delivering products and services needed to advance a greener metals industry.

Burkhard Dahmen, CEO and Chairman of SMS group noted that both the companies share a common goal of reducing carbon emissions from iron and steel production. The company is proud to team up with Tata Steel in supporting it with its decarbonisation roadmap. This represents an important fight against climate change and is likely to be beneficial for the communities around its steel plants across India, Dahmen hoped.
