Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) announced on Friday that it opened 48 new Supercharger stations, including 198 Superchargers, in mainland China during the month of July, CnEVPost reports.

According to an announcement made on its official WeChat account, the new charging stations are spread across 33 cities, including Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai and Nanjing. In June, Tesla (TSLA) opened 32 Supercharger stations across 25 cities in mainland China.

The U.S. automotive firm has set up over 1,200 Supercharger stations in the Chinese mainland to date, including 8,900+ charging piles. It further plans to develop new Supercharger stations in 20 cities, including Beijing, Changsha, Chengdu, Zhengzhou and Hangzhou, in August.

In other news, the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on Thursday asked Tesla (TSLA) to respond to questions about its in-car camera as part of a probe into 830K Tesla models that employ the automaker’s “Autopilot” advanced driver assistance system, Reuters reported.

The auto safety regulator is reviewing the performance of Autopilot after earlier identifying a dozen crashes in which Tesla vehicles struck stopped emergency vehicles.

In a nine-page letter, the agency demanded the company to answer questions by Oct. 12 about “the role that the Cabin Camera plays in the enforcement of driver engagement/attentiveness.”

Tesla (TSLA) shares are down ~2% pre-market.
